I had pondered on this matter before, the definition of my name.But having the attention span of a gnat that will be approximately a fraction of a minute or so. The first time I had taken this seriously was during a class in college wherein my professor - with the effort to extract more information from her wretched students - asked for the reason why we bore our demented names.
I remember my nanay told me that she just wanted to have a name with the initials A.K.,(fyi, that's Andrea Kristine)so that it would stood for the first letter of my parents' name. Part of the Filipino culture. Lucky for me that I wasn't named after a color/flower or repeated names like Jing2, Bing2, Len2, or worse - a name like Cathylene Legson).
Ok, kidding aside, Mr. Webster had defined Andrea as an Italian form of Andrew which in turn is defined as manly and courageous. Manly, sure. Ask anyone from the 6th grade and they'll guarantee that I pack a mean punch. Courageous, well, maybe. Just don't force me to touch a spider or you'll geta taste of my punch ala andrea.
Kristine, by the way is a modernized and female version of the name Christian - a believer in Christ. Yes I am. Even if I don't look like one, I do believe in a higher power. So to those who would urge me to take part of the Dan Brown frenzy, no - thank you. I would be resolved without doubts or questions.
